Tour - The Limes

Walking through Jerusalem from, The Limes, Colby From The Limes take a left out of the gate and walk down through the village until the road bares left and the public footpath goes straight on.

Follow this path past Nether Hoff and through the farm yard, go straight on up the track through several gates then over the stile on your left,into the field, heading down towards the beck,follow the beck passing Bandley Bridge and footpath to Appleby on your left. Now ease away from the beck side on a faint path following a slight rise through a growth of hazel trees, eventually reaching a fence with a stile. Just before the stile turn right to follow the blue directional arrow along an overgrown bridle path.

After the first, short, wooded section the path opens out into a field and becomes clearer, following the left side of the fields in a fairly straight line. At the bottom of the third field, woodland is again visible ahead. In the left corner is a stile, giving access to an overgrown area. A large stone slab bridges a small stream, after which, cross over to the left hand hedgerow mainly hazel.

On reaching the woodland, the path continues along its left edge. At the end of this section, follow the path into another small wood on the left, keeping as close to the dividing fence as possible. Still keeping to the right hand edge of the wood, cross over a stile and continue until you reach a large field stretching uphill.

Follow the left hand side of the field uphill to the next fence and gate to the right of which is a water trough. Turn right past the water trough to the gate in the wall at the bottom. Through the gate can be seen two small quarries.

Cross into the field, passing between the quarries and edge across to the right, following the edge of the field uphill to the gate in the top right corner. Cross into the next field and keep to the right until the next gate where a farm access road leads diagonally left to and through Jerusalem Farm.

On reaching the Colby - King’s Meaburn road, turn right for Colby Village. After about a half a mile turn left at the junction to bring you back to The Limes.
