How to get to Eden
Getting to and around Eden could not be easier.
Here are some directions to the main towns and areas of interest, and details of the various methods of transport available.
Road
From North or South, the M6 passes through Eden. Leave junction 38 for Appleby or Kirkby Stephen and junction 40 for Penrith, the North Lakes A66, A592, or Alston and the North Pennines A66, A686. Coming from the east make use of the A66. This passes through the heart of Eden, passing Appleby and Penrith on its way into the Northern Lakes.
Rail
Virgin Trains operate to Penrith, from London, Scotland, Birmingham, Manchester, the South Coast and West Country.
The Settle-Carlisle Railway (tel 09065 660607) line brings passengers from Yorkshire via the Yorkshire Dales to Kirkby Stephen, Appleby, Langwathby and Lazonby.

Bus and Coach
National Express Coaches call in at Penrith (opposite the Railway Station) for Scotland, London and Birmingham.

Stagecoach Cumberland operate a bus service throughout the area. One-day 'Explorer' tickets are available on buses, offering unlimited travel on Stagecoach Cumberland's services throughout Cumbria. Four-day 'Explorer' tickets can be purchased at any of their agency offices.
